John Chiokwe has a diverse range of work experience in the field of information technology. John Chiokwe started their career as a System Analyst at AshakaCem Plc in 2002 and then went on to work as an IT Manager at Neimeth Pharmaceuticals PLC from 2004 to 2008, where they managed all IT operations and sourced IT based services for the company.

From 2008 to 2012, John served as the Group Head of Information Technology at Genesis Group of Companies, where they developed strategies to mitigate IT risks and created policies for cyber security.

Currently, John is working as the Information Technology Lead at WaterAid, a role they have held since 2012. In this position, they manage IT systems, maintains network uptime, supports and troubleshoots users, and develops system requirements and specifications.

Throughout their career, John has acquired various certifications including ACA, MBA, M Sc, ITIL, MCSE, OCP, CCNA, and MCDA.

John Chiokwe earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, they obtained their High School Diploma from Community Secondary School in 1992.

After completing their undergraduate studies, John pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science at the University of Lagos, where they studied from 2005 to 2006. Continuing their education, they enrolled at Walden University from 2009 to 2011 and achieved a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Technology Management.

In addition to their formal education, John has obtained numerous certifications. John Chiokwe became an Associate Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in May 2023. Prior to that, they acquired the Microsoft Office 365 certification from 365Tribe Ltd in October 2020. John Chiokwe also participated as a delegate in the NETHOPE Virtual Global Summit 2020 organized by NetHope in the same month.

In 2020, John obtained several certifications from LinkedIn, including Excel: Tracking Data Easily and Efficiently, Financial Accounting Foundations, and Strategic Planning Foundations. Furthermore, they obtained the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice in June 2019.

Among their earlier certifications, John acquired the Cisco Certified Network Administrator certification from Cisco in August 2008. In January 2008, they became an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate (Version Retired) from Oracle. Lastly, they obtained the Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification from Microsoft in July 2007.
