Sheila Kynion

Executive Director, Market Street East Lake at Watercrest

Sheila grew up in Dieterich, Illinois and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois with a double major in Health Education and Community Health Administration. While attending college Sheila took a part-time kitchen job at a local nursing home. She worked at the nursing home on the tray line and in the dish room and looked forward to going to work every day so she could interact with the residents while she was on duty. Those interactions had a huge impact on her and that is when she recognized the call on her heart and the desire to work in a profession that would care for others. Realizing the compassion and special love it takes in caring for those in need, she decided that after college she would work in a social service role where she could assist people who needed support. She found great joy in helping others through their life situations.

Sheila has had the opportunity to serve in multiple roles during her career. She has worked with abused and neglected children, managed group homes for the disabled, coordinated social services for hospital transitional care units and skilled nursing facilities as well as a strong focus on operations and sales for assisted living and memory care communities over the past 20 years. As past chapter president of the Florida Assisted Living Association, she advocated for elder care and legislative changes while supporting professionals who worked in the assisted living industry.

She brings her passion for helping seniors and her many years of healthcare experience to her role of Executive Director for Market Street at East Lake. Her focus is on providing seniors with superior care and service that will give their loved one’s a level of comfort and peace of mind in the care they receive.
