Meredith Danberg-Ficarelli has a diverse work experience in the waste management and sustainability field. Meredith is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of WATS, a zero waste services company aiming to digitize the waste industry. Prior to this, they served as a Board Member for the US Composting Council and an Advisory Board Member for Common Ground Compost. Meredith also held the position of Executive Director at Common Ground Compost, where they led a waste-focused consulting startup and implemented initiatives for waste reduction and improved soil health. Meredith was a Co-Founding Member of the NYC Microhauling and Processing Trade Association. Before these roles, they worked as a Sustainability Project Manager, Editor, and Marketing Strategist as a freelancer. Additionally, they held positions such as Marketing Director and eWaste Program Developer at the Lower East Side Ecology Center and Co-Founder and Manager at FERN: Food Establishments Recycling Nutrients. Meredith also worked as a Project Manager and Volunteer at Souk El Tayeb, where they developed a zero-waste program for a restaurant. Earlier in their career, they gained experience as an Operations Assistant at Inhabitat.com and as the Manager of Member Services at Fair Factories Clearinghouse.
Meredith Danberg-Ficarelli completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Printmaking from the University of Virginia, spanning from 2004 to 2007. Later, from 2009 to 2011, they pursued their Master of Science degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Sustainability Management from The New School.
