A construction expert, he has substantial in-house and private practice experience of acting for clients on domestic and international construction projects in the hotels and hospitality, infrastructure, energy, sports and themed entertainment sectors among others.
Barry has an established record of offering contentious and non-contentious legal support throughout a project’s lifecycle from initial contract advice and negotiations to advice on live projects and dispute avoidance.
He has a reputation for commercial acumen, building long-term global client relationships and offering cost-effective commercial solutions that minimise risks and help project teams meet their completion dates and budgets. He also acts for lenders on the construction aspects of financing transactions.
Barry has advised on many high profile and iconic projects including the Aquatics Centre for the London 2012 Olympics, the City of London Lloyd’s Building and some of the world’s best-known public attractions such as the London Eye and the Sydney Tower. He has been a panel judge for the Constructing Excellence Awards and invited to speak at industry conferences in both the UK and abroad, including Oxford University and Chatham House.
