Alexandria McBride

Alexandria McBride has a diverse work experience in various organizations and roles. Alexandria currently serves as the Strategy Director at the Waverley Street Foundation. Prior to this, they worked as a Climate Philanthropy Advisor at Emerson Collective from July 2021 to May 2022. Before that, they were the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Oakland, where they led city-wide resilience building efforts and spearheaded initiatives to address environmental, health, and economic challenges. Alexandria also worked as the Director of Environment & Sustainability at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), where they directed climate and product energy programs on behalf of the tech sector. Additionally, they have experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at The New School and as a Finance and Administration Manager at The Engine Room. Alexandria has also held roles in operations, finance, and project management in various organizations, including Groundswell, Inc and ExxonMobil. Furthermore, they have a background in engineering and has contributed to service projects as the Chartering President of the Howard University Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. Overall, Alexandria McBride has a strong track record in leadership, sustainability, and resilience-building across multiple sectors.

Alexandria McBride earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from Howard University, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. In 2007, they also participated in a semester abroad program at the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Science as an IES Merrill Scholar. Alexandria later pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management at The New School, completing their studies from 2014 to 2016.
