Jared Blumenfeld

Jared Blumenfeld has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Jared began their career as an Editor at Cambridge University in 1992, specializing in International Environmental Law. Jared then joined the Natural Resources Defense Council as Director of Earth Summit Watch in 1993. In 1995, they became the Director of Global Habitat Protection at IFAW. Jared then served as the Director of the Environment Department in the City and County of San Francisco from 2001 to 2010, followed by their role as Regional Administrator at the US Environmental Protection Agency until 2016. In 2016, they hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and also worked as a Principal at Advising Impact until 2019. From 2018 to 2022, Jared created and hosted the podcast, Podship Earth. Their most recent role was as the Secretary for Environmental Protection for the State of California until September 2022. Starting in 2022, they assumed the position of President at the Waverley Street Foundation.

Jared Blumenfeld has a LL.B/JD in Law from SOAS University of London and an LL.M in International Environmental Law from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law.
