Christopher J Smith

Christopher J Smith has worked in a variety of roles since 2006. Christopher J began their career as an Engineering Intern at RWE npower. In 2010, they became a PhD Researcher and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield. In 2014, they were an Invited Researcher at CSIRO. From 2017 to 2019, they were an Additive Manufacturing R&D Engineer at Reliance Precision Limited. Since 2019, they have been a Lead Applications Engineer and Additive Manufacturing R&D Engineer at Wayland Additive.

Christopher J Smith received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Additive Manufacturing and Topology Optimsation from the University of Sheffield in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Engineering (MEng) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester in 2010. In 2015, they obtained a Level 2 Operator for Renishaw Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process certification from Renishaw. In 2011, they obtained an EBM Level 2 operator certification from Arcam AB. Christopher J also attended the Technical University of Denmark.
