Vanessa Gkouliopoulou

Vanessa Gkouliopoulou has a diverse work experience spanning several years. From 2021 to the present, they have been working as a Surveyor Engineer and UX Designer at Waymap. Prior to that, in 2020, they owned their own business called Slice of Life Project. Vanessa also worked as a Client Manager & Copywriter at Greek List Group from December 2020 to October 2021.

Their previous experience includes a role as a Senior Surveyor at Hollis from August 2015 to July 2020. In this position, they were responsible for conducting topographical and measured building surveys, as well as scan to BIM tasks using Leica laser scanners. Vanessa processed data using Cyclone software and created 2D and 3D AutoCad drawings from point clouds.

Before joining Hollis, Vanessa worked as a Measured Building Surveyor at Tower Surveys Ltd from April 2014 to August 2015. Vanessa also gained experience as a Surveyor Engineer at AIASA Joint Venture from May 2010 to December 2013.

In their early career, Vanessa worked as a Surveyor Engineer on various projects as a freelancer. These projects included surveying the Watermill of Metagitsi and its surroundings in Chalkidiki, Greece, documenting the prehistoric site of Sissi in Crete, surveying the excavation at the private property of Baiskou, and documenting the early Cycladic fortified citadel of Panormos in Naxos. Vanessa also worked as a Surveyor Engineer freelancer in contract at the Municipal Enterprise for Development of Karystos for a brief period in 2009.

Vanessa's work experience also includes a role as a Surveyor Engineer at the 9th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities from July 2008 to December 2008, and as a Surveyor Engineer at Polygoniki from March 2007 to October 2007.

Vanessa Gkouliopoulou holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Preservation Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Monuments, which they obtained from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at the same university, earning a degree in Rural and Surveying Engineering with a focus on Topography, GPS, and Geodesy from 2000 to 2006.

In addition to their formal education, Vanessa has pursued various certifications in the field of User Experience (UX) design. Vanessa obtained several certifications from Google, including Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma in April 2022, Conduct UX Research and Test Early Concepts in August 2021, Build Wireframes and Low-Fidelity Prototypes in June 2021, Start the UX Design Process: Empathize, Define, and Ideate in May 2021, and Foundations of User Experience (UX) Design in April 2021.

Furthermore, they completed the UI/UX Design Specialization through Coursera Course Certificates in February 2021. Vanessa also acquired certifications in specific UX design topics such as Visual Elements of User Interface Design from the California Institute of the Arts in February 2021 and UX Design Fundamentals from the same institution in January 2021. Additionally, they completed a certification in Web Design: Strategy and Information Architecture from the California Institute of the Arts in February 2020.
