Caner Onal

Caner Onal is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in hardware engineering and leadership roles, currently serving as a Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer at Waymo since January 2017, focusing on Lidar systems and managing Lidar performance teams. Prior to Waymo, Caner worked at Google as a Sr. Hardware Engineer, contributing to sensor development for self-driving cars and leading microdisplay engineering for Google Glass. Earlier experience includes positions at Micron Technology, Solyndra, and internships at Transmeta and Altera Corporation. Caner earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, along with an MS in Electrical Engineering and a BSc in Microelectronics from Sabanci University.
