David Wichner

David Wichner, MSPM, currently serves as the Principal Architect and Manager of the Safety Management System at Waymo since February 2020, where responsibilities include leading a team to develop an integrated enterprise safety management system. Wichner has extensive experience in safety and program management, previously holding significant roles at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, where responsibilities included directing the Safety Culture team and managing safety training programs. Earlier career highlights include positions at Booz Allen Hamilton, NASA Ames Research Center, and United Airlines, with a strong focus on risk management, safety oversight, and process improvement. Wichner holds a Master of Science in Project Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally, Wichner volunteers as an advocate for the Bay Nature Institute.
