Eric Friedman

Eric Friedman is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Waymo, specializing in self-driving car infrastructure since February 2017. Prior to this role, Eric was a Staff Software Engineer at Google from September 2011 to February 2017, where work focused on the core search serving system with an emphasis on low-latency updates to the search index. Earlier experience includes serving as a Software Engineer at Aster Data, contributing to the development of a cluster-scale analytic database, and a brief tenure as a Software Development Engineer Intern at Amazon.com, where improvements were made to a distributed cache system. Eric also interned at Stanford University’s Computer Science Department under Professor David Cheriton, designing a command line interface for nested object queries. Additionally, Eric contributed to the Boost library, co-authoring and maintaining the Boost Variant discriminated union library. Eric holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University, completed in 2008 and 2006, respectively.
