James Bellis is an experienced engineering professional specializing in vehicle engineering and design. Currently, at Waymo since August 2018, James leads the Vehicle Engineering team, focusing on the integration of sensors and computer systems, as well as developing custom mounting structures and electrical wiring. Prior to Waymo, James worked at Tesla from January 2012 to July 2018 as Sr. Manager in Vehicle Exterior & Plastics Engineering, overseeing decorative and functional components made from various materials. James also held several engineering positions at BMW from 2008 to 2011, contributing to MINI projects, and served as a Project Design Engineer at Bentley Motor Cars Ltd from 2004 to 2008, where detailed design of interior trim components was a key responsibility. James holds a degree in Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering from Loughborough University, completed in 2004.
