Director, Safety And Compliance For Onboard Software at Waymo

Shilpa Gulati is an experienced leader in the field of autonomous systems and robotics, currently serving as the Director of Safety and Compliance for Onboard Software and the Director, Lead of Behavior Prediction at Waymo since June 2018. Prior to this, Shilpa was the Head of Planning, Prediction and Control at Nuro, where the focus was on developing algorithms for autonomous delivery robots. Shilpa's expertise was further honed at Apple as a Senior Engineering Manager, building a team of top researchers and engineers in the Special Projects Group for autonomous systems. Earlier experience includes a role as a Senior Research Engineer at Robert Bosch, developing motion planning algorithms, and as an Autonomous Robotics Systems Engineer at Stone Aerospace, contributing to the development of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for NASA. Shilpa holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Technology and Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
