Wayside Chapel
Jon Owen is an experienced leader in the non-profit sector, currently serving as CEO and Pastor of Wayside Chapel since November 2016, overseeing a workforce of 110 staff and 800 volunteers focused on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty. Previously, Jon held various roles at Urban Neighbours of Hope, including Australian & Pacific Director, where responsibilities included community development, governance, and fundraising. With a strong educational background in social work from Monash University and ongoing theological studies at Charles Sturt University, Jon has demonstrated a commitment to social impact and advocacy for marginalized communities throughout a career spanning over two decades.

Wayside Chapel
Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support for people on and around the streets of Kings Cross since 1964. Today, under the banner of Love over Hate, Wayside runs two community services centre, outreach service, mental health program, two community cafes, an Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Women's Program and GP clinic; programs and support designed to ensure that the most marginalised members of our community have access to essential health, welfare, social and recreational services, as well as offering a place where people are welcome just to ‘be’.
