Rachel Millward currently serves as the Leader of Wealden District Council, co-leading alongside a Lib Dem colleague since the Green/LibDem Alliance took control in 2023, with a focus on Housing & Benefits. As the first Green Party Councillor elected for Hartfield, Rachel also holds the position of Deputy Leader and leads the Green Group within the council. Prior to this, Rachel gained extensive experience in the arts sector, serving as Executive Director of The Nest Collective, where innovative music initiatives were developed; Director of The Old Church, transforming it into a professional arts space; and Founding Director of the Birds Eye View Film Festival, which became a prominent national organization. Rachel's leadership skills were honed through the Clore Leadership Programme and service on the Board of Women in Film and Television. Rachel's academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Theology from St Hugh's College, University of Oxford, and a Master's Degree in Gender & Development from the African Gender Institute, University of Cape Town.
