Kara Van Malssen is a Partner and Managing Director at AVP, where since April 2011, Kara has led digital asset management initiatives for clients in various sectors, including Fortune 1000 companies and cultural heritage organizations. With extensive experience as a Senior Consultant, Kara has worked with notable organizations such as HBO and the Smithsonian Institution, conducting workshops and analyzing data to develop tailored roadmaps for digital asset management and metadata initiatives. Kara has also served as an instructor for ICCROM and held academic positions at New York University and Pratt Institute, teaching courses on digital preservation and metadata. Previous roles include Manager of Digital Archive Research at Broadway Video Digital Media and Audiovisual Archivist at the US Tennis Association. Kara holds a Master's degree in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation from New York University and a Bachelor's degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from the University of Florida.
