Dani Bergey

Dani Bergey has a diverse work experience in the field of design and biomedical visualization. Currently, Bergey works as the Head of Design at Weave, where they design information visualizations and lead science storytelling efforts. Before joining Weave, Bergey worked as a Biomedical Visualization Designer at Dopa Visuals, LLC.

In the past, Bergey held roles at Cognition Studio Inc as a Medical Animator and Illustrator, where they created medical animations and illustrations. They also worked as a Junior Medical Illustrator and Animator at the same company. Additionally, Bergey served as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Washington, teaching digital illustration workshops for the Certificate in Natural Science Illustration Program.

Prior to that, Bergey worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago, focusing on UI/UX design and conducting user testing for healthcare technology applications. They also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the field of Neurobiology at the same institution. Moreover, Bergey gained research experience as a Research Associate at the Institute for Systems Biology, where they used molecular and cellular biology techniques to study gene expression changes in Huntington's Disease.

Bergey's early work experience includes being a Donald A King Summer Research Fellowship Recipient at the Huntington Disease Society of America (HDSA), where they worked with Dr. Nathan Price and Dr. Lee Hood. They also served as a Research Assistant (HHMI Hughes Scholar) at Montana State University and as a Math & Science Teacher at Sylvan Learning Centers.

Dani Bergey received a High School Diploma from Spearfish High School in Spearfish, SD, from 2007 to 2011. Later, from 2011 to 2015, they attended Montana State University-Bozeman and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Cell Biology & Neuroscience. Lastly, they pursued further education at the University of Illinois Chicago between 2017 and 2019, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Visualization.
