Alex Mifsud

Alex Mifsud is a serial entrepreneur with a background in payments and financial technology. Alex is currently the Co-Founder & CEO of Weavr.io, a London-based startup that is developing a new blockchain platform.

Previously, Alex was the Director and Founder Member of the London Blockchain Foundation (LBCF), a not-for-profit organisation aimed at developing and distributing knowledge on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger technology. Alex co-founded the organisation in September 2018 and ran it until February 2020.

Before that, Alex was the Founder and Chief Strategist of Ixaris, a payments processing company. Alex stepped down as CEO in May 2014 but continued to support the company on strategic initiatives until its exit in August 2021.

Alex's first foray into entrepreneurship was with Entropay, a virtual prepaid card company that they co-founded in April 2002. The company was relaunched in 2006 and grew to profitability by 2009, making the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 for that year. Entropay continued to grow year after year, with its increasing profits financing Ixaris until it too hit profitability.

Alex Mifsud has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh, an Oxford Blockchain Strategy Programme from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh, and a B Elec Eng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malta.
