Geir Foshaug is an experienced professional with a diverse background in design, education, and fitness instruction. Starting in 2011, Foshaug worked as an Assistant Professor at Høgskolen i Østfold, where they developed and implemented course material for degrees in Digital Media Production. Foshaug's role focused on teaching technical photography skills, commercial photography practices, and studio photography techniques. During this time, they also received the highest score recorded for student course evaluations on their introductory class.
In 2014, Foshaug transitioned to OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University as an Assistant Professor, where they continued to develop and implement course material for the Department of Product Design. Geir covered topics such as branding, staging, studio photography, and image editing. Foshaug joined Dynamic Press in 2017 as a Prepress Specialist, where they engaged with clients to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the printing process. Geir produced and modified files for proofing and production of various materials such as fliers, stickers, brochures, and editorial publications.
In 2020, Foshaug took on the role of Adjunct Professor in the Photography Department at College of the Canyons. Geir developed course content for classes in person, hybrid, and online formats.
Foshaug also has experience in the fitness industry, serving as a Fitness Instructor at Equinox from 2019 to present. Their role involves leading fitness classes and assisting clients in achieving their fitness goals.
From 2015 to 2020, Foshaug worked at California Institute of the Arts in various roles. As a Manager, they identified opportunities to create a safe and positive working environment in the Scene Shop and oversaw all budget lines. Foshaug also served as a Digital Output Services Supervisor, operating and maintaining digital output services and training staff and students on various technologies.
Foshaug's experience in education extends to CSSSA - California State Summer School for the Arts (& Foundation), where they worked as a Digital Media Instructor and Exhibition Designer. In the role of Digital Media Instructor, Foshaug developed and maintained a challenging curriculum for visual media students aged 14-18, reshaping class goals to meet market demands. Additionally, they mentored teaching assistants to help develop their skills. As an Exhibition Designer, Foshaug designed and staged exhibitions and developed models for student engagement on exhibition practices.
Prior to CSSSA, Foshaug worked as a Product Designer and Visual Designer at Photone Mgmt from 2010 to 2015. As a Product Designer, they led the design process from research through conceptualizing, prototyping, and testing, while advocating for user needs and facilitating collaborations. In the role of Visual Designer, Foshaug performed design work on profiles, brands, campaigns, and merchandise for various businesses and events. Geir also provided creative direction and delivered assets across multiple platforms.
Most recently, Foshaug joined Webalo in 2021 as a Lead UX Designer and later transitioned to the role of Director of Design in 2022.
Geir Foshaug's education history begins in 2005 when they obtained a Professional Tennis Coach certification from Norges Tennisforbund. In 2009, they furthered their tennis coaching expertise by earning an Elite Professional Tennis Coach certification from the same institution. Moving into the field of design, Geir obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Product Design from Oslo Metropolitan University in 2015. Geir then pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Art & Technology from the California Institute of the Arts, completing their studies in 2017. Geir also has a background in photography, having studied at Parsons School of Design - The New School in 2009-2010, although no degree is specified. Geir has also obtained various certifications related to usability testing, psychology of e-commerce, web design, user experience (UX) design, instructional design, and fitness instruction.
