Michael Sorrows has a diverse work experience in finance and accounting. Michael started their career as a Staff Accountant and Staff Auditor at Gannett National Shared Service Center from February 2010 to July 2011. During this time, they were responsible for executing month-end activities and performing internal audits.
In 2011, they joined Strand Diagnostics/Know Error as a Controller and later became the Director of Finance in September 2014. As a Controller, they performed various accounting and operational procedures on a daily and monthly basis, including supervising accounts payable processes, inventory management, and implementing new operational procedures. Michael also completed month-end journal entries, prepared financial statements, and handled payroll and inventory valuation.
In 2018, Michael Sorrows took on the role of Chief Financial Officer at Weihe Construction Inc, where they were responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the company.
Most recently, in March 2022, they joined Liggett Appraisals as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
Michael Sorrows, CPA, MBA, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business. Michael completed their MBA program from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from Butler University - Lacy School of Business, where they attended from 2005 to 2009.
In addition to their education, Michael Sorrows has also achieved the certification of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the Indiana Board of Accountancy. Michael obtained this certification in April 2017.
