Weizmann Institute of Science
Vitor Teixeira MSc PhD is currently an Assistant Researcher and FCT Junior Investigator leading a project at i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde that focuses on the physiology of lipid droplets in cellular lipid metabolism and diseases. This research aims to uncover cellular mechanisms related to lipid droplet biogenesis and has implications for combating diseases linked to lipotoxicity. In addition, Vitor serves as a Visiting Research EMBO Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, provides consultancy services for project peer reviews at the French National Research Agency and the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, and holds the position of Invited Assistant Professor at ICBAS, teaching modules related to protein structure and molecular signaling. Previous experience includes roles at the University of Oxford, where research concentrated on lipid droplet formation, and various roles in the field of biophysical and molecular biology research since 2009. Vitor's academic foundation was laid at the Universidade do Porto, with a Master's thesis exploring antimicrobial peptide interactions and cytotoxicity.
