Matthieu Muffato

Matthieu Muffato serves as the Informatics Infrastructure Team Lead at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, focusing on the implementation and delivery of genome assembly pipelines for the Tree of Life programme. Previously, Matthieu held various roles at the European Bioinformatics Institute from 2011 to 2021, including Principal Developer and Project Leader in Ensembl Comparative Genomics, where significant contributions were made in software development and data storage strategies for large-scale genomic projects. Matthieu's experience also includes mentorship and supervision roles during Google Summer of Code, alongside a strong academic background with a PhD in Bioinformatics and multiple degrees in computer science and mathematics.
