John Morrison has extensive experience in both local governance and sports. Serving as a Councillor for Wellington City Council since October 1997, John has achieved significant milestones, including facilitating the "Call Active" relocation to Wellington, creating up to 2,000 jobs. Additionally, since 2004, John has been a Board Member and Trustee of the Basin Reserve Trust and has held a long-standing role as a sports broadcaster with The Radio Network and TVNZ, providing cricket commentary and sports criticism. John also managed Morrison Sporting Agencies until 2009, focusing on sports marketing and media projects. As a former BLACKCAP, John played 17 Test matches and 18 One Day Internationals for New Zealand, earning recognition for both batting and his unique spin bowling.
