Marci Chickering received her bachelor's degree in management from the University of Northern Iowa and earned her master's in business administration with an emphasis in human resources from the University of Iowa.
Chickering has more than 20 years' experience working in the human resources profession. She joined Wellmark in 2003 and served in multiple HR roles prior to her 2009 appointment to senior vice president – human resources.
Chickering is currently executive vice president, chief human resources officer. In addition to HR, previous accountabilities included the process excellence function from 2012–2017 and interim accountability of the customer service function from 2016–2017.
Previous experience before joining Wellmark includes The Principal Financial Group, COVA (Met Life) and Advent Enterprises Inc. (now Job Point).
Chickering currently is a member of the Prevent Child Abuse Iowa Board. Previous affiliations include University of Iowa's REACH Advisory Board, GlobalFit Board, Greater Des Moines Partnership and Workforce Development/Education Board and Partnership for Drug Free Iowa/Face It Together Board.
