Tarik Essawi is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and cloud transformation. Currently serving as the Head of Generative AI Applied Engineering at Wells Fargo since March 2025, Tarik previously held the position of Director of Engineering for Cloud Learning Technologies at Google from September 2020 to March 2025, focusing on the Google Cloud Skills Boost platform. Prior to Google, Tarik was the Vice President of Engineering at Capital One, leading the company’s cloud transformation from August 2015 to September 2020, and also held the role of VP Engineering at Learning Objects, where adaptive AI-driven learning platforms were created. During a tenure at Rally Health from June 2011 to September 2013, foundational AI and data platforms were developed. Tarik holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering from George Mason University and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
