Dr. William Funk founded Cocalico Dental Offices in northern Lancaster County in 1974. Cocalico Dental is a comprehensive family dental practice serving thousands of families with a staff of fifteen dental auxiliaries and dental hygienists and three dentists. In 2012, after 38 years of treating patients full time as well as managing the growing practice, the practice was sold to his two partners. Since October of 2012 he has seen patients on a very limited basis (one day per week). During the many years of full time practice a meaningful part of his practice was to serve medically and physically handicapped patients and very young pediatric patients in the operating room utilizing general anesthesia. Another rewarding dental opportunity was mission dentistry in both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. These experiences in underserved populations are still being pursued at this time. Public service has been an important priority also including long time membership in Rotary Club, sixteen years as a member (seven as chair) of the school board of the Ephrata Area school District, fourteen years and counting as a member (twelve as chair) of the Ephrata Area Education Foundation, serving as a board member of the former Ephrata Community Hospital (now WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital) since 2005 to the current time, board member of WellSpan Health System.
Mr. Funk is a graduate of Villanova University (BS biology), University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and University of Vermont Medical School (residency).
