Carolina Villegas

Quality Group Lead, Global at Welocalize

Carolina Villegas has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Carolina began their career as a Trainee Translator at the Federación Andaluza de Asociaciones de Sordos in 1997. Carolina then worked as a Freelance Translator at Equus Traducciones & RM-Soft from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2001, they worked at SDL plc as a Spanish Senior Translator and Line Manager, responsible for specialized translation projects. Carolina also served as a Translation Manager, overseeing the Translation department at the Sierra house division.

Following their time at SDL plc, Carolina worked at www.in2Spanish.com as a Localization Consultant, providing translation and proofreading services for software, online help, web sites, and multimedia games. Carolina also worked as a Subtitler for BBC World Service. Carolina then joined Elance-oDesk in 2011 as a Localization Quality Manager, where they focused on improving translation quality, documenting processes, and managing program output and costs.

In 2015, Carolina joined Welocalize as a Language Quality Manager, responsible for monitoring and controlling translation team performance and implementing quality plans. Carolina later took on the role of Senior Talent Program Manager, where they handled quality escalation, financial analysis, and execution planning for new and existing clients. Carolina then served as a Senior Program Manager, focusing on data analysis and presentations.

Most recently, Carolina held the positions of Quality Operations Lead and Quality Group Lead, Global at Welocalize. In these roles, they provided cross-cultural leadership, guided the Quality Operations team in delivering services, and led customer quality meetings to capture requirements and set success factors. Carolina also played a key role in operational strategy discussions.

Carolina Villegas earned a Licenciatura in Language Interpretation and Translation from Universidad de Granada from 1993 to 1997. Carolina also received an Erasmus Scholarship for Language Interpretation and Translation at Katholieke Vlaamse Hogeschool from 1995 to 1996. In addition to their degrees, they have various certifications in areas such as AI, business agility, leadership development, and translation tools. Carolina obtained these certifications at different institutions and years. Carolina is also a Spanish official translator, having obtained the Intérprete Jurado de Inglés qualification from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998.
