Arno Bratz has extensive work experience in the humanitarian and development sector. Arno currently serves as the Head of Sector Strategy, Knowledge, and Learning at Welthungerhilfe (WHH), where they are responsible for ensuring technical excellence across their global portfolio of projects and programs. Arno also positions WHH as a thought leader in various areas such as food systems, WASH systems, nutrition programming, and impact measurement. Prior to their role at WHH, Arno worked at Mercy Corps, where they held several positions, including Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Director and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager. In these roles, they optimized impact in multi-sectoral food and nutrition security programs, developed MEL systems and guidance, and represented Mercy Corps at various levels. Arno has also worked as an Editor-in-Chief and Free Journalist for various publications, a Research Management Assistant at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, and a Research Assistant at the University of Heidelberg, focusing on topics such as cyber security, targeted killings, and nationalism.
Arno Bratz has a diverse education history. Arno obtained a Master's degree in Post-war Recovery Studies from the University of York. Arno also pursued studies in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding at the University of Oxford. Arno further expanded their knowledge by studying Transnational Organised Crime and the borders of traditional statehood at Heidelberg University. Arno Bratz holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Psychology from the same institution. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained certifications such as the PMD-Pro Project Management Certificate Level 1 from APMG International and has completed a course on Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding in New Contexts at the University of Oxford. Arno also achieved an IELTS Band score of 8.5, certified by the British Council.
