Hernán Altamar

Hernán Altamar, MD, is a seasoned Urologist with extensive experience in both military and civilian healthcare settings. Currently affiliated with Manchester Urology Associates, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Hernán has held prominent roles in urology since September 2021. As an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Hernán has also contributed significantly to medical education. A veteran of the US Navy, Hernán served for over three decades, achieving the rank of Captain and completing a Urology residency and a fellowship in Laparoscopy/Endourology/Robotic Surgery. Notably, Hernán held the position of Chief of Urology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and served as Specialty Leader for Urology, providing oversight and leadership within the Navy Urology community. Hernán Altamar possesses a Doctorate in Medicine from the Uniformed Services University and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy.
