Matt Spires Cisa, Cipm, Cipp-E

Matt Spires, CISA, CIPM, CIPP-E has a diverse work experience in the field of technology risk, compliance, and privacy. Matt is currently serving as the Head of Technology Risk, Compliance & Privacy, VP at WePay, where they are responsible for designing and iterating security controls to address technology risks and maintain a culture of rapid innovation. Matt also leads the development and maintenance of technology governance, risk, and compliance framework and designs programs to ensure compliance with security and data protection regulations.

In addition, Matt is a Technology Advisory Board Member at the PCI Security Standards Council, where they provide strategic and technical guidance to enhance PCI security standards and contributes to the overall strategic direction of the council.

Prior to WePay, Matt worked at Marqeta, Inc as the Sr Director of Risk & Compliance, Technology & Data Protection Officer. In this role, they managed regulatory requirements related to product design, development, deployment, and post-deployment. Matt also implemented a comprehensive risk management and regulatory compliance strategy, ensuring compliance with security frameworks and regulations such as ISO 2700x, Level 1 PCI DSS, GDPR, and SOC I & II.

Before Marqeta, Matt held positions at KLX, Inc (now Boeing Distribution Services Inc.) as the Head of Corporate IT Internal Audit, and at B/E Aerospace (now Collins Aerospace) as the Corporate IT Audit Senior Manager. In these roles, they planned, performed, and managed audit activities to ensure compliance with financial operations, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, security controls, program change and development, disaster recovery, and compliance audits.

Matt started their career at Thomas Howell Ferguson, PA (former Ernst & Young) as a Consultant, specializing in audit services for insurance, manufacturing, distribution, not-for-profit, and governmental clients. Matt conducted financial statement audits, compliance audits, internal control studies, and IT audits/consulting.

Matt Spires, CISA, CIPM, CIPP-E, completed their Bachelor's Degree in Information Studies and Computer Science from Florida State University, where they attended from 1997 to 2001. Matt then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at Flagler College from 2003 to 2005. In addition to their academic background, Matt has also obtained certifications in CIPM and CIPP-E from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, as well as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification from ISACA.
