Heather Brodkin has a long history of work experience in the biotechnology field. Heather began their career in 2000 as a Contract Laboratory Technician at Primedica Corporation, Inc. Heather then moved to Alkermes in the same year, where they worked as a Research Associate II until 2003. During this time, they developed and validated both RP and SEC HPLC analytical methods for the identification, separation and quantitation of protein drugs. Heather also drafted reports summarizing research and GMP/GLP studies, maintained, designed and executed both automated and direct method moisture analysis using Karl Fisher, and analyzed powder formulations with Anderson Cascade Impaction and Emitted Dose testing. In 2003, they began their Ph.D. Candidate role at Northeastern University, where they investigated the role of remote residues on enzyme function and structure using computational and bioinformatics tools (THEMATICS, ConSurf, Evolutionary Trace), in addition to a variety of experimental techniques. In 2009, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Brandeis University, where they were responsible for leading numerous independent and collaborative projects to answer basic biochemical questions through structural biology, and they were also a supervisor to numerous masters level students, guiding them from beginner through thesis projects. In the same year, they were also a Consultant at Harvard School of Public Health. From 2014 to 2021, they worked at Potenza Therapeutics as a Principal Scientist, and then at Werewolf Therapeutics as a Senior Director and Director of Protein Engineering.
Heather Brodkin began their educational journey in 1996 when they earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Framingham State University, which they completed in 1999. Heather then went on to earn their Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northeastern University in 2009.
