Karen de Jong

Karen de Jong currently serves as a Persvoorlichter/Woordvoerder for the Minister and Secretary of State for Defence at the Ministerie van Defensie since February 2023. Previously, Karen was a Politiek redacteur at the Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst within the Ministerie van Algemene Zaken from December 2018 to February 2023, and held a temporary position as a Media-analist at the Ministerie van Defensie in mid-2022. Additional experience includes volunteering for a Dutch language project for refugees at WelnU, completing a traineeship at Carrièrestart, and serving as an intern in the Political Department of the Embassy of the Netherlands in the United States. Karen holds a Master's degree in International Relations in Historical Perspective and a Bachelor's degree in History, both from Utrecht University.
