Ruben Brekelmans

Ruben Brekelmans is the current Minister of Defence, serving since July 2024. Prior to this role, Ruben held significant positions including Member of Parliament where responsibilities included serving as VVD Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Migration. Additional roles encompassed leadership within the VVD's thematic network on international affairs and the committee for the European elections manifesto. Ruben's previous experience includes director positions at the Ministries of Finance and Justice and a political assistant role focused on migration. Ruben's consulting background includes impactful projects at The Boston Consulting Group and The World Bank. Academically, Ruben possesses a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, a Master of Science in Global Politics from The London School of Economics, and multiple degrees in Economics and Business Administration from Tilburg University.
