Gijs Bessems

Gijs Bessems is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in risk management and auditing. Currently serving as a Senior Group Risk Manager and Senior Internal Auditor at APG since June 2019, Gijs has held various roles including Internal Auditor. Prior experience includes positions as Manager and Junior Manager at BDO Nederland and a Controller at Zuyderland, where key responsibilities included financial reporting and integration during organizational mergers. Gijs's career began at Deloitte as a Junior Manager and Staff member, and early in the academic journey, Gijs was a Student Assistant at Maastricht University. Gijs holds a Post-Master degree in Accountancy from Maastricht University, a Praktijkopleiding from the Nederlandse Beroepsorganisatie van Accountants, and a Master’s in International Business - Accounting, further supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences.
