Bob Clarke

Research Manager at Wessex Archaeology

After graduating from the University of Exeter with a PhD in Archaeology in 2017, Bob was lucky enough to be offered the post of Research Manager with Wessex Archaeology.

As a Research Manager based in Salisbury, Bob's role is centred around the preparation and management of post-excavation programmes and deliverables. He specialises in the areas of contemporary and conflict archaeology, the Wiltshire landscape, publication writing and editing, and the development of training programmes with the student at the centre of the experience.

Bob also have 20 years of experience running community projects, engaging the local community in their own history, allowing them to engage first hand with their past. He believes archaeology is a fantastic medium with which communities can be re-energised, looking at their communities through fresh eyes. It is also a brilliant way to increase numeracy and literacy skills in both children and adults – something Bob is passionate about.

When not involved in archaeology, Bob enjoys spending time with his family and playing my extensive vinyl collection covering the late-70s and early-80s.
