Ines Lopez-Doriga

Principal Environmental Archaeologist at Wessex Archaeology

Ines Lopez-Doriga has a diverse range of work experience in the field of archaeology. Ines started their career as an Undergraduate Researcher and Professional Internship at Universidad de Cantabria in 2007. Ines then went on to complete their PhD Research Fellowship at the same university from 2009 to 2013. In 2014, they worked as a Research Fellow at the Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO) / University of Porto (UP). In 2015, they held the role of Archaeologist (Archaeobotanist) at Novarqueologia LDA. / Estação Arqueológica de Freixo, and later that year, they became an Environmental Supervisor at Historic England. Since 2016, Ines has been working at Wessex Archaeology, starting as an Environmental Archaeology Officer, then moving to Senior Environmental Archaeology Officer, and currently serving as the Principal Environmental Archaeologist.

Ines Lopez-Doriga holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from Universidad de Cantabria, which they completed from 2003 to 2008. Ines further pursued their education at the same university and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Prehistory and Archaeology from 2008 to 2009. Ines then continued their studies at Universidad de Cantabria, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Prehistory and Archaeology from 2009 to 2016. Ines expanded their knowledge in wildlife rehabilitation and release, earning a Certificate in Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release from Secret World Wildlife Rescue between 2019 and 2020. Most recently, from 2021 to 2022, Ines attended SRUC and attained a PG Dip in Wildlife Conservation and Management.
