Matthew Welsh has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Matthew started their career as the Coordinator of Orientation & Academic Advisor/Coordinator of Adult Learning & Retention at McNeese State University from 2006 to 2010. Matthew then worked as the Special Events/Marketing Manager at L'Auberge Lake Charles | Baton Rouge from 2010 to 2012. Matthew went on to become the Sr. Regional Director at the American Heart Association from 2012 to 2015. Matthew then joined BBR Creative as the Lead Account Executive, overseeing global marketing projects from 2015 to 2018. After that, they worked as a Communication Specialist at Healthy Image Consulting Inc from 2018 to 2020. Currently, Matthew serves as the Chief Marketing + Community Impact Officer at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, where they provide strategic direction for marketing, foundation, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and business development efforts. Matthew also champions the organization's focus on achieving DEI goals through collaborative solutions.

Matthew Welsh obtained a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communication & Digital Strategy from the University of Oklahoma, which they pursued from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, from 2004 to 2006, Matthew completed a Master's degree in Instructional Technology at McNeese State University. Furthermore, from 1998 to 2003, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences, also from McNeese State University.
