Michael Guthrie

Michael Guthrie is the Head of Climate and Nature Delivery at West of England Combined Authority since January 2024. Prior to this role, Michael held various positions at Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs including Defra lead on Levelling Up, Head of Defra group Fiscal Strategy/Strategic Planning, and Deputy Director (Interim) of Defra group Business Planning and Performance. Michael also has a background in corporate planning, community and stakeholder relations, and customer services at Environment Agency. Michael holds a Fellowship in Leadership for Sustainable Development from LEAD Europe, an MSc in Climate Change from University of East Anglia, and a BSc in Geography and Biology from University of Bristol.
