West Pierce Fire & Rescue
Mark Viramontes-Giron is currently serving as the Battalion Operations Officer at West Pierce Fire & Rescue since April 2022. Prior to this role, Mark has been with WPFR since September 1998, starting as a Firefighter and working their way up to the position of Firefighter-Captain. Mark holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington, along with a Fire Administration degree from TCC & Pierce College. Additionally, Mark has completed multiple MPA degrees specializing in Public Administration and an Executive Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue
West Pierce Fire & Rescue protects approximately 31 square miles, proudly serving the citizens of Lakewood and University Place. It is a fire district funded separately from the cities. West Pierce Fire & Rescue was formed in 2011 following a merge of the University Place and Lakewood Fire Departments. Numerous services are provided to the community including fire suppression, emergency medicine and transport, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, emergency management, disaster preparedness, fire code inspections, investigations, as well as fire and life safety education.
