Peter Lancia

Superintendent of Schools at Westbrook School Department

Peter Lancia is the current Superintendent of Schools at Westbrook School Department. Peter has been in this position since July of 2002. Prior to that, they were the Congin School principal. Peter has also been a teacher at Saccarappa School and an assistant superintendent at the University of Southern Maine.

Lancia is a highly effective leader with a proven track record in both teaching and administration. Peter has successfully implemented independent reading programs, Professional Learning Communities, and standards-based grading. Peter has also provided extensive professional development opportunities for educators.

Under their leadership, the Westbrook School Department has undergone an extensive building and renovation project. This has resulted in a more modern and effective learning environment for students and teachers alike.

Lancia is committed to excellence in education and works tirelessly to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed. Peter is an innovative thinker who is constantly looking for ways to improve the educational system. Peter is a strong advocate for community partnerships and collaborations.

Peter Lancia received their Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology and Religion from Bowdoin College. Peter then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Adult Learning and Development from Lesley University. Finally, they earned their MSEd in Literacy Education from the University of Southern Maine and their Ph.D in Education from Lesley University.
