Sherlita Amler

Sherlita Amler, M.D., currently serves as the Commissioner of Health for Westchester County since 2011, overseeing a department with approximately 300 employees and an annual budget of $160 million. Responsibilities include regulatory oversight under Section 352 of the State Public Health Law and ensuring the provision of core public health services. Previously, Amler held the position of Commissioner of Health for Putnam County from December 2004 to October 2011, where duties included managing a staff of about 100 and an $16 million budget while maintaining compliance with public health standards.
