Nick Wanat

Nicholas Wanat serves as the Chief Audit Executive at Western Alliance Bank since May 2013, overseeing the internal audit function and working closely with the Audit Committee. Previously, in the role of SVP Controller, Nicholas managed an 18-person Accounting Department, achieving significant reductions in month-end and quarter-end closing timelines amid substantial asset growth. Nicholas holds board member positions at Junior Achievement of Arizona and the Phoenix Public Library Foundation, and has prior experience at First Federal as VP Assistant Controller. Nicholas began a career at KPMG, holding various roles including Senior Manager, primarily focusing on financial services and multinational audits. Earlier professional experiences include trading at Octagon Trading and clerical work at Shatkin, Arbor, Karlov. Academically, Nicholas earned a Master’s in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University and a dual Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from Miami University.
