Barton Barnhart, P.E., PMP, CFM has a strong background in engineering and project management. Barton has held various senior positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, they served as the Senior VP and Rocky Mountain Regional Manager at Western Area Power Administration, where they led a large team responsible for selling federal hydropower and maintaining critical energy infrastructure. Prior to this, they worked at the U.S. Department of Energy as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Petroleum Reserves and the Director of the Office of Infrastructure Management and Disposition Policy, where they oversaw facility maintenance, deactivation, and decommissioning projects. Barton also served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Planning and Budget at the Office of Environmental Management, managing a multi-billion dollar nuclear cleanup program. Before joining the Department of Energy, Barnhart held leadership roles at the U.S. Air Forces Central Command and the U.S. Air Force Headquarters, managing construction contracts, budget planning, and asset management. Barton has a proven track record in successfully managing large-scale projects and ensuring operational efficiency.

Barton Barnhart, P.E., PMP, CFM, holds a Master's degree in Military Art & Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, which they obtained from 2002 to 2003. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology between 1985 and 1988.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Barton has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2013, they earned the Professional Engineer certification from the South Carolina Board of Engineers & Surveyors. In 2010, they obtained the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. Furthermore, in 2009, Barton obtained the Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) certification from IFMA.

Continuing to enhance their professional development, Barton plans to participate in the Strategic Leaders Program: Vision, Strategy, and Managing the Organization to Drive Results offered by the Michigan Ross School of Business Executive Education. Barton is set to obtain this certification in November 2022.
