Rodger L. has a diverse and extensive work experience in database administration, development, and architecture. Rodger started their career in 1995 at Adapsys, where they served as a database architect and developer, playing a crucial role in implementing Oracle technology to replace Cobol systems. Rodger also acted as an informal team lead. In 1999, they worked as an Oracle consultant for various companies such as Konica, Friendly's, and Inforonics, focusing on development aspects and Y2K-related projects. From 2000 to 2001, they were a Systems Architect and Database Administrator at NextObjects, specializing in serving the telecom industry. In the same year, they also served as a Database Administrator and Unix Administrator at Lionbridge. In 2001, they joined Fidelity as a Database Administrator and Oracle Developer, responsible for database administration, architecture, and development. In 2004, they briefly worked as a Data Architect at PFPC, where they developed a database system for mutual fund proxy votes and integrated custom databases with Concerto Software's telemarketing software. From 2002 to 2007, they held the role of Oracle Consultant, DBA, and Developer at various companies, including Biogen, Citizen's Bank, Iron Mountain, Workscape, Bank of America, Wellington Management, and Charles River Development. During this time, they assisted in system upgrades and resolved long-standing issues. In 2007, they joined Western Asset Management as a Senior Developer, specializing in Oracle and Sybase database development in the Reporting department. Their main focus was on delivering highly accurate results while minimizing maintenance requirements.

Rodger L. started their education at the University of Manitoba from 1988 to 1993, where they pursued a degree in Accounting and Marketing, earning a B. Commerce (Honours). Following that, from 1993 to 1995, they attended The University of Winnipeg and obtained a B.Sc. in Business Computing. In 2007, Rodger began studying towards a CFA designation at the CFA Institute, where they continued until 2010. Additionally, they obtained several certifications from Coursera: "A Beginner's Guide to Irrational Behavior" in May 2014, "Data Analysis and Statistical Inference" in April 2014, and "Computing for Data Analysis" in February 2014.
