Qing D.

Qing D. is a distinguished engineer with extensive experience in the hard disk drive (HDD) industry. They worked at Hitachi GST as a Senior Technical Staff Member from 2003 to 2013, where they significantly contributed to the development and launch of the Perpendicular Magnetic Recording HDD program. Currently, at HGST, a Western Digital company, they serve as an R&D Director and lead global teams focused on improving HDD interface reliability and energy-assisted recording technologies. Additionally, Qing holds the title of Distinguished Engineer at Western Digital, where they continue to excel in HDD tribology and reliability. They are pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and have held postdoctoral research positions at both Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Harvard University.
