Brian Nielsen M.D., Ms, Facog

Brian Nielsen, MD, MS, FACOG has a diverse work experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Brian currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Residency Program Director at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Physician specializing in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Sparrow Health System from September 2021 to June 2022. Brian also served as a Physician in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Bronson Healthcare from August 2017 to April 2021. From July 2014 to June 2017, they were a Fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont. Before that, they worked as an Instructor and Women's Reproductive Health Research Scholar (NIH) at the same institution from July 2011 to June 2014. From August 2006 to June 2011, they served as the Associate Residency Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beaumont Health. Brian completed their residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beaumont Health from July 2001 to June 2005.

Dr. Brian Nielsen has an extensive education history. Brian obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Alma College, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Brian then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2001, earning their Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree.

In order to further their expertise and knowledge, Dr. Nielsen pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Brian specialized in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis during their studies from 2007 to 2009.

Alongside their education, Dr. Nielsen also obtained several certifications that enhance their professional qualifications. Brian became a Diplomate in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in December 2008. Later, in May 2022, they achieved the additional certification of Diplomate in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from the same institution.
