Cody McKinney has a diverse work experience in finance and accounting. Cody began their career as the owner of Cody LeGrant McKinney CPA PC, where they provided various financial services including tax preparation, auditing, and financial advisement. Cody then worked as the Chief Financial Officer for Bakersville Community Medical Clinic and TenderCare Clinic, where they prepared budgets, oversaw financial operations, and implemented business intelligence software. Cody also served as the Finance Director for Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County, Inc., where they managed accounting records and implemented budgets. Cody later became the Chief Financial Officer for Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Center, where they supervised the finance department and implemented business intelligence software. Currently, Cody is the Chief Financial Officer at Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS).

Cody McKinney has a diverse educational background spanning several institutions and fields of study. Their education journey began in 1984 at Warren Wilson College, where they pursued a general studies program without obtaining a degree. Cody then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1987 to 1988 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus on Accounting and Early American History. Continuing their education, Cody enrolled at Appalachian State University from 1993 to 1994, earning a certification in Middle Grades Education, specifically in Social Studies.

The pursuit of knowledge did not stop there for Cody, as they embarked on a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Regis University. From 1998 to 2019, they engaged in comprehensive studies in Business Administration and Management, culminating in the award of an MBA degree.

Throughout their educational journey, Cody explored various fields, ranging from general studies to accounting, early American history, education, and eventually business administration.
