Marilee Griffin has extensive work experience in the field of communications and marketing. Marilee currently holds the position of Director of Marketing and Communications at Western North Carolina Community Health Services. Prior to this role, they worked as an Assistant Director of Communications at UF Health Cancer Center from 2016 to 2022, where they were responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, overseeing media relations and social media, and providing support to administrative offices. Before that, Marilee served as a Communications Specialist at UF Health from 2012 to 2016, where they handled media inquiries, created content for various platforms, and collaborated with marketing and design teams. Marilee's earlier experiences include working as an Editor at Atlantic Publishing Group Inc. from 2009 to 2010, where they edited manuscripts and managed author progress, and holding multiple positions at UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering from 2008 to 2009, including Associate Editor and Project Coordinator roles.

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS)
WNCCHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to approximately 15,000 patients in Western North Carolina. We are a private, non-profit organization with locations in Buncombe and McDowell counties, as well as a traveling mobile clinic. WNCCHS offers sliding fee scale discounts for all patients and our 340B Pharmacy gives them access to discounted pharmacy services. As a FQHC, WNCCHS maintains a patient-majority Board of Directors that reflects the people we serve — ensuring that our organization and the care we provide are directly impacted by real patients and members of our community. WNCCHS helps address social determinants of health through a variety of programs. We are the only FQHC NCDHHS Healthy Opportunities network provider in the region. WNCCHS is also the only FQHC in the region with a Medical Legal Partnership, which addresses patients’ health harming legal needs. WNCCHS provides HIV services to an 18-county service area of Western North Carolina through the Ryan White Program, serving approximately 800 patients. We also provide HIV prevention services and embrace universal HIV testing for all of our patients. The WNCCHS Transgender Health Program provides culturally competent, high quality trans health care to more than 500 patients. As a Community Health Center, social justice is woven into the fabric of WNCCHS.
