Anthony W. Starr

Anthony Starr, ICMA-CM, AICP, serves as a Board Member for the NC City/County Management Association and has held the position of Executive Director at the Western Piedmont Council of Governments since December 2012. With extensive experience in local government management, Anthony previously worked as Assistant Executive Director at the same organization and has also held leadership roles as President and Vice President of the Southeast Regional Directors' Institute. Prior positions include County Planning Director for Henderson County, Town Manager for the Town of Catawba, and roles in regional planning and emergency services. Anthony holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Community & Regional Planning, along with a certificate in Municipal Administration.

Western Piedmont Council of Governments

The WPCOG is a regional planning, economic development and service organization which serves 28 local governments in a four-county area of western North Carolina. Members include Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba Counties and the 24 cities and towns within those counties. Since 1968, WPCOG has provided planning services, project administration and technical assistance to its member governments and the region as a whole. Its professional staff of 68 persons is headquartered in Long View, North Carolina.
