Mathew MacKay

Director - Long Term Operations at Westinghouse

Mathew Mackay has extensive work experience in the nuclear energy industry. Mathew started their career at Rolls-Royce Nuclear as an Instrument Technician in 2004, later progressing to the roles of Technical Engineer and Senior Electrical Engineer. In these positions, they provided technical support and expertise for electronic design, instrumentation, and power systems on Royal Navy nuclear submarines. From 2011 to 2020, Mackay held various leadership roles at Rolls-Royce Nuclear, including Team Leader for Future EC&I Systems and Vice President for the US Region. In these positions, they oversaw teams of engineers and played a key role in developing the EC&I Architecture for the Next Generation of Royal Navy nuclear submarines. In 2020, Mackay joined Westinghouse Electric Company as the Regional Vice President for Digital Engineering Services and currently holds the position of Director for Long Term Operations.

Mathew Mackay completed their education in a progressive manner. Mathew started at UHI in 2006, obtaining an HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Mathew then pursued a BSc in the same field of study at UHI from 2007 to 2009. Finally, they further expanded their knowledge and skills by completing an MSc in Nuclear Technology & Safety Management at Cranfield University from 2010 to 2011.
